Mesa Pool & Spa Restoration
See how Blue Moon recovered a green pool and raised spa through chlorine washing, tile cleaning, new filter cartridges, and restoring operation of the existing circulation pump.

A fresh start for the pool and spa.
This large rectangular diving pool in Mesa had an elevated attached spa and a raised water-feature wall. Service had stopped before a property sale, leaving green water, debris, and substantial mineral buildup.
Blue Moon’s owner/operator carried out the restoration using Blue Moon’s equipment. The project brought together surface cleaning, tile and spillway care, filter cartridge replacement, and diagnosis to get the existing circulation pump running again.

The water was green and discolored, with debris and organic contamination. Calcium and mineral deposits had built up on the waterline tile and spa and spillway surfaces. The filter cartridges were heavily soiled and deteriorated.
The starting-condition photo looks toward the house. The handoff overview above shows the same pool and raised spa from the other end.

Clean the existing surfaces. Remove the buildup.
Blue Moon drained the pool and spa, removed the remaining contaminated water and debris, then chlorine-washed, brushed, rinsed, and cleaned the existing pebble-type finish. The finish was cleaned, not resurfaced or replastered.
Glass-bead blasting addressed approximately 133 linear feet of combined waterline tile—about 108 feet at the pool and 25 feet at the spa. The spa spillway, waterfall edge, and associated raised tiled surfaces were also cleaned, followed by removal of blasting media and residue.
Surface cleaning and cleanup were completed late September 9 as refill began. The photos below show different stages and viewpoints.

Restore the pump. Replace the worn cartridges.
A controls and wiring issue was diagnosed and corrected to restore the existing Hayward variable-speed circulation pump. No new circulation pump was installed.
All four cartridges in the existing Hayward SwimClear C4030 filter were replaced, while the filter tank was retained. The installation photo shows the new cartridges in the open tank before the filter was closed.

The work continued after the cleanup.
Refill and startup continued September 10–11, with startup chemicals added and circulation restarted. Follow-up visits covered the water level, equipment operation, and chemistry checks.
On September 15, Blue Moon walked the homeowner through the equipment. By handoff, the pool and spa had been refilled, the cleaned finish and tile were visible, and the existing circulation system was running again.
